Girl’s Hostel Building at Mook Dhwani School, Vadodara – A school for differently- able children
The Girls hostel at Mook Dhwani Trust is was inaugurated on 20th June 2015. The hostel was constructed The main objective was to retain the girl child in secondary school so that girl students are not denied the opportunity to continue their study due to distance to school, parents’ financial affordability and other connected societal factors.
Hostel is constructed in a calm and picturesque school campus and provides accommodation for more than 30 girl students. The facilities include rooms dining hall, meditation hall, indoor and outdoor recreation.
For the young girls, the bathrooms are placed attached within the rooms because that is what they are used to at home – an easy access to the bathroom whenever required. The rooms are vibrant, cosy giving the feeling of a home away from home. The popular multi-functional Gazebo serves as a cool hang out during breaks, a nice space to display school work or host an exhibition or even a nice venue to hold a class in.
Barrier free environment in an academic institution helps in enhancing the performance and also helps in making a person independent. Differently able person’s requirements for a barrier free environment in terms of infrastructure will be exclusive in terms of making them comfortable, safe and independent.
Considering this hostel facility to be a pressing need for the School, the School management feels that this facility is an inspiration for the society and expects that it will help in reducing School drop out ratio of differently-enabled girls.
Adoption of Residential Secondary School at Lamdapura village, Savli
The project is undertaken to create a kind of education centre where each child is imparted knowledge that is contemporary while simultaneously deeply rooted firmly in our cultural heritage. The school is aimed to provide a joyful learning environment based on hands-on experience and understanding.
This ‘Lamdapura Lok Vidyalaya’ will help to impart education exclusively for the underprivileged and rural children.
The school will benefit more than 400 children including kindergarten and 9th-12th grade students. School has been built in a 4 Acre land in the village Lamdapura, located near FAG Savli plant, approximately 25 kilometres from Vadodara.
Infrastructural facilities will include fully functional Science & Computer Labs, Indoor & Outdoor play zones, amphitheatre and fully equipped modern classrooms.
The aim is to impart higher education to help in both holistic and academic development of the students. Thus establishing a vibrant school where insights from cutting-edge research are tuned into working models of pedagogical practices with a single minded focus i.e. student wellbeing.
Therein, we shall be forming a school management committee consisting of educationist, experts, consultants, nominees from FAG, two trustees from Lok Seva Mandal Trust etc. Considering the policy and disciplinary matters of the school shall be looked after by the School Management Committee. The entire capital cost of the School shall be borne by FAG as part of its CSR initiative.
